Nothing in the world can go on forever: your energy will also run out if you push yourself too hard and forget to recharge. It doesn’t happen overnight, but it can creep up on you.
I can’t even count how many times in my career I fell into this trap. One day I feel like at the top of your game, so I take on way more than I could pull out on a normal day. Next moment I’m completely drained, both physically and emotionally.
The worst thing is when it takes weeks or even months to recover. All because I wouldn’t allow myself to rest when my body and mind needed to.

Burnout in the workplace is more widespread than one might think. Data from the American Institute of Stress shows that 80 percent of U.S. workers feel stressed out about their jobs. In such circumstances, taking time off is the best thing you can do for your body, but often it’s also the least realistic option.
