Is It Too Late To Start Over?
If you’re like me, you probably told yourself that by a certain age, you made it in your career already, saved enough for retirement, married with kids, and [insert all the trappings of a Hallmark movie].
But life is not like that. Life is messy and unpredictable and is sometimes a double feature dystopian film that you want to erase but cannot. At least, that was what 2020 was for most of us.
The pandemic has left us reeling for answers on our careers, relationships, and life, in general. And you probably asked yourself, is it too late to start over? Whether it is a career setback or a craving just to reset your life, the answer lies within you and what you make of it.
Give Yourself Time and Compassion
What happened last year was not easy. People got laid off. The job market dried up. Business loans got overdue. There was too much friction at home. There was no telling where rock bottom was because it felt lower and lower as the days went by.
So don’t be too hard on yourself. Your confidence may be at an all-time low but understand that so many forces are outside your control. You could not control the pandemic. You could not control the economy. You could not contain all these external forces that gave you endless worry and anxiety.
