A pandemic is specifically described as “an epidemic occurring worldwide, or over a very wide area, crossing international boundaries and usually affecting a large number of people”. Millions of people get affected not only health-wise but also morally, economically, and mentally.

Pandemic in human history:

Human history is full of disease outbreaks. These outbreaks were of such magnitude that they changed the course of human history and during every outbreak, fear of ending the whole civilization was the talk of the town. Circa 3000 BC, Plague of Athens 350 BC, Antonian plague AD 165–180, Cyprian plague AD 250–271, Cocoliztli epidemic: 1545–1548, American Plagues: 16th century, Great Plague of London: 1665–1666, Russian plague: 1770–1772, American polio epidemic: 1916, Spanish Flu: 1918–1920, Asian Flu: 1957–195 are few of the deadliest pandemics in the history. Millions of people died during these pandemics.

Effects of a pandemic on human life:

Apart from all other effects of a pandemic on human lives, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder stand out. Even the survivors of pandemics experience moderate to severe stress and depression disorders. Self-isolation and being quarantine are a huge cause of mental issues.
