I hear you, friend.

You are not alone in this. I also had bad days. Dark days. Days when I did not feel like getting out of bed. The sun was too intense for me. I could not face it. They say light is always good, but for today, can I hide from it? I am too ashamed of what the day will tell me. I am too weak to face today. I want to curl in bed and lie all day. I want to pretend that days do not exist for the moment, and it is night all the time.

Darkness is sometimes good for me too. You know when it is dark, and you must wait a while before your eyes get used to it? This is like that. You are teaching yourself new things. You are teaching yourself new skills. Perhaps you need to adapt a little. Maybe you need to readjust something. You rely on shapes and silhouettes to tell you where you are. You heighten your hearing. You follow the scent of the couch. You reach for something. Well, there’s the chair. Don’t bump into that. You pat on the table. There’s your lamp and book. You can hear silence, and it does not bother you. In fact, you have come to appreciate silence. It does not hurry you. It does not force you to decide when you don’t want to. It just invites you to stay still.

During this time in the darkness, you will find other things, like a forgotten memory. It sneaks up unannounced and comes into view when you least…
