Should I Forgive My Husband?

There are many times that I forgive him even without apologizing just because he is my husband and I love him. I want to maintain my marriage as happily as possible. I want to keep it happy and full of laughter.

I remember that first day we met at the café. We shared the table but as total strangers, we chatted like friends and never wanted to end that conversation. Even when he asked for my phone number to stay in touch, I didn’t hesitate for a second but instead, I read it out loud for him to hear.

What started from a simple conversation turned into marriage in just 3 months? Even if many people said to me that I hardly knew him and that the marriage won’t work out, I gave them a deaf ear because I believed in him.

It is now 5 years down the road and I still adore my husband. But just like other marriages, we have challenges that we face and overcome daily. However, recently I can’t seem to forgive my husband.

And I find everything he does annoying. Just the previous day we had a tough quarrel because he came home late. I knew he was from work but my head seemed not to accept it. Out of anger, I left home to my aunt’s place.

I got a chance to talk to my uncle and I openly explained everything, even all that has been currently occurring in our marriage. He asked, “Aren’t you going to forgive him?” The question isn’t out of the ordinary but it surprised me when I asked him back without thinking but speaking what was on my mind, “Why should I forgive him?”
